Prenatal yoga pregnancy is one of the most extraordinary times in a woman's life. It is a time for nurturing yourself as well as your unborn child. It’s also a time for learning to meditate and focus on your breath. Prenatal yoga classes provide safe exercises designed to strengthen and relax your rapidly changing body, preparing you for conscious childbirth, and the opportunity for mother and child to bond prior to birth. Prenatal yoga classes go beyond the physical realm of movement and embrace breathing techniques that relax the mind and give focus during times of stress. Classes on meditations help a mother discover a deeper sense of peace and empowerment as well as lift fear and doubt out of pregnancy and birth. As a mother’s feelings and emotions are felt by her unborn child, it is of utmost importance for a mom to create a peaceful, loving environment around herself. Prenatal Yoga Class

In each class, students will be led through meditations focused on pregnancy and birth as well as breathing techniques. These teach mom how to stay calm and relaxed in any situation including labor. All classes are sequenced with postures and flows that were created with the pregnant body in mind: postures that relieve tension in common pregnancy tight spots and strengthen the body in preparation for delivery and motherhood. A sangha, community, is facilitated among students. Each is on a similar path and can learn from as well as support one another. The Shanti Mom prenatal yoga class is not just a typical yoga class with postures safe for pregnancy. It's a prenatal yoga class sequenced for the pregnant body with meditations for connection to the unborn baby and a community gathering of women on a similar path. Classes are held every Wednesday at NKO Yoga Studio in Deer Park. Classes are also held in Louisville and Florence, KY as well as Cincinnati, Dayton, Troy, Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown, OH.
